12-12-12 but Life is Unpredictable

amit blog

‘I don’t want to work. I want to be quiet and rest. I know the time and the place; but the fate or Karma, I think, drives me on — work, work.’  Wrote swami Vivekananda in a letter to sister Nivedita on 4th March 1900. Two years from this in July, 1902 Swamiji was no more. Sometimes the spiritual probably know when they are going to leave from this magnanimous circle of life. Life and death are the only truths on this planet which no one can deny and everyone has to adapt to.

Every year there are many who die. Some go unnoticed and very few leave a legacy behind, those are the ones who must had fueled their dreams with passion and perseverance undergoing turmoil and making sacrifices all the way. The reason I started writing this blog is not just that it is 12/12/12 but yesterday I saw the news which questioned my stream of consciousness.

It is said that God gives birth to humans but hearing yesterdays news it seems like it’s the parents and doctors (not all) who decide when to give birth to a child. Report showed the desperation of parents to deliver their child on this so special date 12-12-12. Is it really going to make the new born all goody memories, won’t he have to struggle to achieve dignity or his birth date is enough? There is nothing wrong in wanting the best for your children but does it have to be so dependent on a date. Hopefully these parents will meet the right doctors who can tell them that let’s not go against the nature and wait until normally delivery happens.

This triggered a thought have not think of the 12 on this date 12-12-12 who died in 2012 and look at what legacy they left even though they where born on different dates. Well, that brought me to write of at least 12 personalities who died in year 2012. There’re many known personalities who died in this year but I choose ones with whom I felt connected to in someway nor the other. History is filled with people who where successful and their footprints show that they never achieved anything in ideal condition, it was when they where put to adverse condition did they construct the road to success.

I have mentioned 11 individuals and 1 cause. Each one of these might had to go through turmoil to achieve success, I have just mentioned only Neil. You might know better of all others like I do.

The 12th one of not for death but for all those 205 children who got affected with Polio in the year 2012. Let’s work together with Rotary International and put the last effort to eradicate Polio from the face of the earth. So that when we leave this planet at least millions of children will thank us indirectly because of the efforts we took to save their lives by eradicating Polio.

Take care and Happy …..Living!

  1. yes amit…nice post. These days anything can become a hype and drag people towards it….or else could I say…people sure are responsible for making anything so called “in-thing”…and be a victim of insanity. Ideas and concepts do change according to the generation…we just don’t know though to what extent :).

    • Thanks Praju for responding. There is a ‘we think best’ zone amongst so many people. Ignorance is no more bliss it is immaturity. I feel though generations will change the morals should remain the core for each generation provided they get from the predecessor. .
